The comprehensive CeltiCare Preferred Select plan is a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health plan.  PPO plans differ from Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans in that PPOs offer individuals and families the freedom to choose out-of-network primary care physicians, specialists and hospitals.  HMOs require members to choose in-network health care providers, however HMOs tend to be a cheaper option.  If the individual decides to go to an out-of-network provider, there is a higher copayment to be paid.   CeltiCare Preferred Select is offered for children, adults and families.  There is a choice of 80/20% or 100/0% coinsurance options where the member is responsible for the bottom number.  Deductibles range from $500 to $5,000.  Additional options can be added on such as supplemental accident options and prescription drug coverage.  There is a $20 copayment for generic drugs.

The Celtic Basic Plan is one of the most affordable Celtic options in Illinois.  The Basic Plan offers high deductible options which are usually partnered with low premiums.  The ideal candidates for high deductible option plans are young and healthy individuals where emergency medical care is a very rare case, since they are considered a form of “catastrophic” plan. The Celtic Basic Plan also offers Preferred Provider Organization options with 80/20% coinsurance and $1,500 to $5,000 deductible choices. 

As of March 1, 2010, Celtic is now offering 70/30% coinsurance level with deductibles ranging from $1,500 to $7,500.  There is a prescription drug option and a $200 wellness benefit.

Celtic Saver plans offer the Health Savings Account option.  Health Savings Accounts are for individuals who are interested in being in control where their health care dollars are spent and therefore lead healthier lifestyles.  Health Savings Accounts are flexible and follow the individual if they move to another state or if they change careers.
