If you own your own business in the state of California you can apply for the small group plan. In order to be eligible you must be pregnant, a resident of California, and not be a recipient of free Medi-Cal or Medicare Part A or B. You must also be uninsured or covered by private insurance with a separate maternity deductible or co-payment of more than $500.

California’s high risk pool plan, Major Risk Medical Insurance Program, is administered by the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board. In order to be resident you must be a resident of California, not be eligible for Part A and Part B Medicare, not be eligible to purchase any health insurance, and unable to secure adequate coverage.
