Local presence marks renewed focus on the Central Valley
WALNUT CREEK, Calif., March 29, 2007 ? Aetna (NYSE: ?ET) announced today that it has opened a new office in Sacramento to support the expansion of the company?s business in the Central Valley. Aetna is establishing a local presence and devoting resources to increasing access to high-quality, affordable health care and increasing membership in the state?s fast-growing central region.
Employees responsible for sales and service, and network management are based in the new office, located at 1215 K Street. A medical director to oversee the Central Valley region is expected to join the Sacramento staff soon.

"Over the past several years we have built a strong network of doctors and hospitals in the region, and we are offering a variety of plans and services to meet the specific needs of employers, their employees and families in this important part of the state."
Last year Aetna introduced the Aetna HealthFund HMO, a new product designed specifically for Californians. In addition, the company offers a wide range of affordable benefits products for small, mid-size and large employers, as well as individuals, and an industry-leading package of online tools and information to help members navigate the health care system and make better informed decisions about their health care.
Aetna currently has more than 1.2 million California members and a network of 43,680 physicians and 313 hospitals statewide.
