New office opening in Spokane to better serve customers in Eastern Washington

SOURCE www.unitedhealthcare.com

MERCER ISLAND, Wash.- UnitedHealthcare, a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) company, is introducing new products and services to the people of Washington designed to make health care work better and provide Washington businesses with expanded access to quality, affordable health care coverage for employees and their families.

The new products will be available statewide to employers with 51 or more employees.

In addition, the company named Jonathan Hensley CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s Northwest Region, which includes health plan operations in Washington and Oregon.

New UnitedHealthcare product offerings will include a variety of health coverage options such as network-based medical plans, including consumer-driven health plans with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs). Life, dental, vision and disability services are also available.

“UnitedHealthcare’s nationwide physician and hospital services network and commitment to providing affordable, quality health plans nationally, combined with PacifiCare’s legacy of offering health plan products in Washington for more than 20 years, is a win-win for Washington consumers and businesses. Now, under the auspices of UnitedHealthcare, consumers in Washington will have access not only to the largest physician and provider network in the country and a comprehensive portfolio of health care products, but also a host of technological and customer-service advancements that simplify the health care process,” said Hensley, who will join the company April 30.

Hensley brings to UnitedHealthcare more than 20 years’ experience in the health insurance and employee-benefits industries, having recently served as vice president of sales for Regence BlueShield in Washington. Previously he held senior sales management positions with Humana, Premera Blue Cross (Seattle) and CIGNA HealthCare.

Hensley is a board member of the American Red Cross of King County and the American Heart Association in Washington. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of North Carolina. He will report to James Frey, CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s Pacific Region.

“Jonathan’s experience and strong track record of sales and enrollment growth will spearhead our expansion in the Northwest Region,” said Frey. “He will lead a strong sales team with a shared mission to offer expanded access to quality health care products and services to consumers and businesses in Washington.”

“UnitedHealthcare will continue to offer PacifiCare products in addition to UnitedHealthcare plans and programs, which will help expand our presence throughout the state, especially in Eastern Washington. UnitedHealthcare recently opened an office in Spokane to support our growing business in that part of the state,” said Hensley. “Today, Washington employers can partner with a national company to provide employees with network access to health care services from coast to coast. This is especially beneficial to Washington-based companies with multistate operations, which can offer employees in all locations access at the same affordable rates as their co-workers in Washington.”

Over the past five years UnitedHealth Group has invested more than $2.5 billion in advanced technology and business-process improvements that enhance and streamline health care administration and improve quality and service for members, physicians and other health care providers. More than 20 million UnitedHealthcare customers throughout the country have electronic ID cards that simplify the eligibility process.

“We look forward to bringing electronic ID card technology to our customers in Washington,” Hensley added. “Also, we believe that our contracted physicians and other health care providers will appreciate UnitedHealthcare’s online claims-submission and tracking process. Today more than 80 percent of claims nationwide are adjudicated within three days of receipt, enabling physicians and hospitals to be paid quickly.”
